Subject: LUCRETIA PALMER, probate record & personal notes
Date: Wed, 4 Apr 2001 00:30:56 EDT

The only record I have of Lucretia is a probate record dated October 2, 1866.
I believe she was a child of Spottswood and Elizabeth (nee Rousey) Palmer,
although I did not find her listed with her in the only census record I've
found for Spottswood, dated 1850. The probate record was filed in Buchanan
County, Missouri and is transcribed below and recorded in Book E, Page 6.
Note that the application for Letters of Administration listed Spottswood's
children as being Lucretia's brothers and sisters which is the basis for my
conclusion that she is one of Spottswood's children, although she had not
been mentioned in Spottswood's probate records. No listing is made of the
real or personal property of Lucretia, nor of any debts she may have accrued
or that may have been owed to her.
William H. Palmer, a son of Spotswood and brother of Lucretia, had a daughter
whom he named Lucretia circa 1869 which was probably in honor of his recently
deceased sister.
ANYONE with further information on this family, please contact me! Thanks!
