Subject: [MOBUCHAN] WHALEN/WHELAN family in Buchanan Co. in mid-1800s
Date: Wed, 02 Jan 2002 15:56:24 +0000
Hello.
After reading the posts on the Lattners and others, I was wondering if there
is any mention of any WHALENs or WHELANs in Buchanan County in the mid-1800s
in any of the books mentioned.
My gggrandfather, Charles WHALEN married Rose McKENNA (possibly of Co.
Monaghan, Ireland- or 1st generation American) and had 4-6 children, among
them my great-grandfather,
John Raymond WHALEN, Sr. b. August 31, 1896,in St. Joseph, Missouri,
and his siblings,
William WHALEN,
Frank WHALEN, and
Dorothy WHALEN,
and maybe 2 more named
Mike WHALEN and
Pat WHALEN.
I'm guessing that Charles WHALEN may have been born in the 1860s or 1870s
and married to Rose McKENNA in the 1890s. I can't seem to find any WHALENs
in Buchanan Co. before John Raymond WHALEN, Sr. in the 1890s, but would love
to be proven wrong :).
If anyone has any ideas or information, especially possible names of
Charles's parents, I would be very grateful and am willing to share what I
have.
Thank you in advance,
Jennifer Whalen Mason
