This is indeed the David Apperson that I THINK is my great-grandfather. It
is the second marriage that I cannot seem to find anywhere. If Sophia is
the second wife, then this is the first link I have to this line. The
additional information is a big help. I have the Vera Apperson's book, but
you have given me a more info than was there. Thanks, Chuck.

I have the book on the history and people of that county put out by the
Hist. Society but there are no Apperson biographies. The book I have on
Buchanan County is dated 1881, so it will be of no help either.

There appears to be a good bit of info on this family on Ancestry World
Tree. It is a free part of Ancestry.com. Here is one of the hits I got.

David Alexander Apperson, 5th child and only son of William M. and Mariah
Chambers Apperson, was born about 1863 near California, MO, and died of
tuberculosis October 27, 1938, in a hospital in St. Joseph, MO. For many
years he was a dentist in Vinita, OK. It is believed he was married twice
but we have information only on his first marriage. Records in Moniteau
County Court House at California, MO, show that a marriage bond was recorded
as of June 26, 1881 to Margaret Almeda Cooper, the marriage probably having
been a year or two earlier. They ha two children according to a letter dated
February 14, 1972, from their grandson, Walter Apperson, Novato, CA, a son
and a daughter.
