Message Board Post:
I am trying to discern the correct Thomas Donnell that went to Missouri and was a Presbyterian Minister who went there to begin a church. I'm finding there is a lot of conflicting information floating around the WebWorld and would like to have proof who he is?
1) There is a Thomas Donnell, son of Robert Donnell, Sr and Mary (ULN) who was b. c1754 and it's said this Thomas was a Presbyterian Minister and was one who organized the first Protestant church west of the Mississippi River. This man is said to have gone to Missouri and was never heard from again. [I have seen a death date of 1843, but it's not proven.] This Thomas Donnell came from NC, and settled in Rutherford Co., TN, then later went to Missouri.
2) Then there is the Thomas Donnell who was b. 20 Jun 1786 (I show 1796), d. 8 Feb 1843 in Washington Co., MO, who is also said to have been a Presbyterian Minister and is written up in lots of information about the Bellevue Presbyterian Church in Washington Co., MO and was married to Elizabeth Sloan. He was the son of William E "Capt Billy" and Martha Jane Denny Donnell.
3) There is the Thomas Donnell, b. 19 Mar 1755, d. 8 Feb 1842, son of Thomas Donnell and Jane Latham and married Margaret King that is buried at the King Cemetery in Gallatin, Sumner Co., TN and was part of the Shiloh Presbytery. (I'm wondering if dates for this one and the Thomas Donnell in MO are one in the same? Dates are almost identical?? )
Any PROOF help would be greatly appreciated. Pictures of tombstones with dates would be FANTASTIC!!
