That's horrible, but unfortunately far too common. It gets discouraging
when you keep going out and picking up the pieces, only to see someone come
out and vandalize it again. There is one in Benton county that people were
actually driving their vehicles over the fallen headstones in order to get
to an area of the lake.

The only thing you can do is keep good fences up, and if it is in an area
that is easily accessible you can try to maintain a presence there, such as
driving by to visit it every few days. Not feasible if everyone connected
to it lives far away. I personally feel that if they catch the vandals,
they should make them work in area cemeteries cleaning up the damage, far
beyond what they inflicted. I would hope that it might help them have a
little more respect for the sanctity of a cemetery. Of course, there are
always people who just don't get it.
