Claybrook was built in 1858 by George Claybrook, a southerner. His finances were severely impacted by the Civil War. In 1866 he mortgaged the home and everything he owned.
He ended up losing it all. The home was auctioned off on the court house steps of Liberty, Clay county in 1868. That's about all I have on him.
