Excelsior Springs (as I understand it) was named for the natural mineral water springs in the area and they were touted as being medically helpful in the treatment of arthritis, rheumatism, etc. I found a file on the Internet with an ad for a "Ball Clinic & Health Resort" in Excelsior Springs - this might be the "Dr. Ball" reference in your information. The link to this Adobe Acrobat .pdf file (you'll need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader) is:

Also, this link will take you to the eBay Stores "Postcards & Papers," where you can see various postcards of the Ball Clinic:

Message Board Post:

I have found in one of my ancestors obituary that they passed away at "Dr. Ball's Health Resort" in Excelsior Spring, Mo. Could someone please tell me what type of facility that was and what his affliction might have been that explained his going there (he lived in Iowa).
Thank you in advance for your help.
Cindy Baldogo
