Are Rowena and Eliza sisters? -- And grand-daughters of Joseph Stephens and
daughters of Lawrence Cole Stephens (son of Joseph Stephens and Rhoda Cole
Stephens). I double or triple goofed .. no Maria..it was ELIZA I was hunting
for...
Like I said earlier -- someone sent me a query about Walthal Robertson.. and
I saw the STEPHENS connections and it made me do a double take.. particulary
when I saw there was a Bourbon Co., KY connection.
Here's a quick tree: http://home.earthlink.net/~haburt/main/chart271.htm
So I think this is ELIZA C. STEPHENS
Cary: Elizabeth Cropper nee Stephens; b. Jan. 1, 1839 in Moniteau County,
MO; d. Jan. 18, 1908 at Speed, MO; dau. of Dodge and Mary (-) Stephens, wife
of Brightwell Cary (died at the home of her son, Charles, Cary, in Speed, MO
and buried here beside her husband, Brightwell Cary.)
Cary: Brightwell; d. June 6, 1906
Note: Elizabeth Stephens and her sister, Rowena Stephens, were married to
Brightwell and Joseph Cary, brothers, in 1855, in a double ceremony.
[HE WENT BY SIMPSON BRIGHTWELL CARY OR BRIGHTWELL CARY?]
4 Simpson B. Cary b: Abt. 1828 in Cumberland County, Kentucky
+Eliza C. Stephens m: April 09, 1856 in Cooper County, Missouri
4 Joseph Bowen Cary b: March 18, 1829 in Cumberland, Kentucky d: January 24,
1910 in Cooper County, Missouri Burial: Mount Herman Baptist Church
Cemetery, Cooper County, Missouri Burial: Mount Herman Baptist Church
Cemetery, Cooper County, Missouri
+Rowena Stephens b: July 11, 1840 m: April 09, 1856 Burial: Mount Herman
Baptist Church Cemetery, Cooper County, Missouri Burial: Mount Herman
Baptist Church Cemetery, Cooper County, Missouri
But guess what? There is a MARIA STEPHENS... don't know who she goes to.
Linus Simpson Cary below is the son of
FATHER: Wilson Cary [2/124/6];b. 1770 , Chesterfield, Virginia; d.
2-May-1822 , Cumberland, Kentucky; m. 1793 , , Virginia; PARENTS: Robert
Cary [2/124/60]
MOTHER: Judith Baker [2/124/6]; b. 1774 , Chesterfield, Virginia d.
4-Feb-1843 , Cumberland, Kentucky ; PARENTS: John Baker, Sr. [2/124] &
Elizabeth
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
1. Linus Simpson Cary [2/124/61]; b. 1795 , Chesterfield, Virginia; d. 1856;
m. Maria Stephens [2/124/61]
All this because of the WALTHAL/ROBERTSON connection. Now the tough part is
sorting out slaves among these families.
I also just realized that I need to go back and review my Moniteau and
Morgan County slave schedules.. I think there are ties there that I have
overlooked.
