World War I Draft Service Records for the state of Missouri are online
at the Secretary of State's web site.

Go to http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives
click on Research Room & Online Resources in the menu on the left
In the list of Online Resources under Research Room, click on World War
I Service Cards Database

As an example, I put in Helton. I got back Shelton (as a first name)
and Helton as a surname. The only Helton from Dallas county was
Everett. The actual record gives induction date, place of birth and
date of birth and service. Everett never saw combat; he was a student
in training at Washington University from 6 Nov 1918 until discharge.
