I know the band Pumpkin Center is still going, but what about Punkin Center? It may have just been kids together for awhile. I know most people pronounce it as "Punkin" including myself, but from everything I have ever found it is actually Pumpkin Center. I think alot of it is the local dialect. It is like Pomme de Terre. In old records I have it is seen more times than not as Pumley Tar. I have even had queries as to what "Pumley Tar" was and what it meant. I will see if an old map I have shows where Cross Plains was actually located, but then some old maps are wrong also. Linda
