I checked the Howard Co Cemetery books for Smothers. Unfortunately, I
didn't read the note to myself well enough and looked for ALL Smothers in
Howard Co.

This is what I found. Hope some at least is new to you.

In the Howard Co Cemeteries (by Elizabeth Prather Ellsberry, 1963)
Volume I
Ashland Cemetry, 9 mi south Fayette on Highway 20
SMOTHERS, Halen - no dates

Volume II
Mt Pleasant, 1 mi north of New Franklin on Hwy 5
SMOTHERS, George A, 1883-1956
Marvin W 1924-1945
Alice Eleanore 1912-1951

Volume V
Clark's Chapel, Rte 87, 2 1/2 mi nw Boonville
SMOTHERS, Mary Susan, dau D W Jan 26, 1864 - Mar 14, 1877
Frances, Jul 26, 1876 - Feb 14, 1879

I also looked through the marriages of Howard Co because I didn't understand
the question. There are almost none there. From 1816 - 1874, and none
until 1880s.

SMOTHERS, Almyra & William J Miller 24 Apr 1888 2/117 (this is book and page
number)
Maggie & Harold Piggins 6 Jul 1935 9/318
Dolores Marie & Gordon Harvey 8 Sep 1951 11/157
Thomas & Mary A Crump 27 Sep 1883 1/174
John W & Bettie Dodson 26 Mar 1885 1/316
Halan & Endora Figgins 7 oct 1934 9/276 (note Maggie above and Harold
Piggins; both were written as I have given you on the index, but perhaps one
or the other is in error and they are both Piggins or both Figgins.)
Halen & Britt Hettie 18 Dec 1945 10/398
John W & Cecelia Joan Allison 1 Jan 1946 10/401
Halen & Norma Louise Bruce 16 Mar 1946 10/408 (same guy 3 times???)
Albert Lee & Nettie M Masterson 16 Aug 1948 11/20

However - the Smothers were in Randolph Co from the 1830s per the marriage
register. I have ordered on microfiche (not yet arrived) the cemeteries of
Randolph Co and will look your William up when it arrives.

Carolyn
