Hello to all,
I was able to find the 1820 Missouri Census index that I
referred to MidContinent Genealogical Library and here is
what I learned.
The publisher is Accelerated Indexing Systems, Inc. of
Utah. The call number is 978.J137, copyright 1981. It is,
however, a "census substitute" which was derived from other
records (i.e., tax lists, etc.). Consequently, the listing
of names is of little use for anyone who already is aware of
their ancestors being in that area, and at that time,
because no reference is made to "substitute source" that is
used. Possibly, Accelerated Indexing Systems, Inc. would
have that information.
On another page of the book mention is made of other
censuses which were taken. In 1810 a census was taken for
the "parent Territory" (Louisiana, I suppose), none was
taken for 1800, and there is a 1790 census taken by the
French.
Much more than that, I cannot tell. I found no
Vanderpools, however, but many names were listed under
Howard County.

Best Regards,

Phil Lindsey
