7 Dec 1906--CHAS. ELGIN DEAD--Charles F. Elgin, whose critical illness was noted in
last week's NEWS, died at his home in this place at 10:30 p.m. Friday, November 30,
1906, aged 62 years.
Some three weeks ago several of Mr. Elgin's teeth began bothering him and not
thinking anything serious would result began using home remedies, but as they grew
worse from day to day he had them extracted. An abcess had formed under the teeth,
however, which continued to grow worse despite the best medical attention, and the
constant nursing of his devoted daughters. In a few more days blood poison set up and
his condition grew worse hourly until death relieved him of his suffering.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters, three brothers and three sisters
besides a host of warm personal friends amongst the people of Higbee where he had
made his home for over twenty years.
Funeral services were held at the residence Monday by W. W. Boatman and
interment made in the city cemetery. To the grief stricken relatives and especially to the
daughters, the NEWS extends its warmest sympathies.
