The Randolph County Historical Society has a bible. It was bought at a
Moberly sale about 15 years ago. Below is what it says, in several
different handwrittings. Some of the later entries are in pencil and
have faded badly. It is at the RCHS building at 223 N. Clark, Moberly,

This is the property of Frances B. Hitt. Below that it says
This Bible is the property of Susanna Wilhoite and Frances B. Hitt.

Samuel Wilhoite and Nancy Sparks was married on the 13th day of
September in the year of our lord 1796.
Samuel Wilhoit (sic) and Susan Pope was married on the 31st day of
December in the yer of our lord 1831.
Arthur Hitt was born Sept 30th 1878
George R. Hitt was born May 3rd 1875 (not sure of year)
Maude? W. Hitt ws born May 10th 1877
Ruther Hitt was born March 30 1880 (not sure of year)

Joab Hitt and Frances B. Taylor was married on the 11 day of September
in the year of our Lord 1834.
George J? Winn was married to Frances Ann Hitt the 20th day of May 1852.
John R. Bradley and Mary E. Hitt was married the 29th day of July 1857.
James R. Hitt &? Mariah? Gatewood was married Jan 11, 1866
Walter A. Hitt and Taylor Dougherty was married Dec --(can't read) 1876
? ? Hitt? was (married?) (can't read)
Lawrence Pope son of Wm. and Susanna Pope was born January 25th 1809.
Sanford Pope was born May the 11th 1811.
Henry Pope was born March the 11th? 1814
Jane Pope was born December the 29th 1816
Emily Pope was born November the 22rd 1818
Otaway Garnet Pope was born the 9th August in the year of our Lord 1829
Joab Hitt was born in the hear of our lord 1804 November the 22nd
Frances B. Hitt was born in the year of our lord 1818 September the 13th
Frances Ann Hitt was born in the year of our loard 1836 April the 3rd
Mary E. Hitt was born in the year of our lord September 19th 1838
James Robert Hitt was born March 29th Ano Domini 1841
Morgan Sumpter Hitt was born Nov 21st Ano Domini 1843
Walter Ashley Hitt was born Oct 25th 1846
Warren Taylor Hitt was born in the year of our lord August 20 1849

Dede (? not sure of name) Glenn died June 23rd 1891
Morgan Sumpter Hitt son of Joab Hitt and Frances B. Hitt died on the
25th day of July 1956
David Lewis Hitt son of Joab and Frances R. Hitt died on the 24th day of
Sept 1857
Joab Hitt died June 12th 1882, 77 yrs
Walter Ashby Hitt died July 12 1821 aged 75
