The following are selected articles from a Newspaper titled, "The Higbee News" which
was issued out of the town of Higbee, in Randolph County, Missouri from the years 1888
through 1953. The editors were W. H. Welch and his son H. Scott Welch. This paper covered the Higbee area and also a great deal of
the northeastern part of Howard county. The copyright notice at the end of this transcript is there for the sole purpose of keeping
this work free to the public, and to ensure that it is not
harvested by a fee-based corporate genealogy site, or published in any format for profit. If you decide to use the information from
this transcription, PLEASE LIST ME AS THE SOURCE, rather than the paper. My transcription is another generation removed from the
microfilm, and would thus be a third generation copy of the original paper. For proper documentation, a researcher should obtain a
photocopy of the microfilm for their own permanent records, and use my transcript as a guide or index. The microfilm is available
for interlibrary loan through the State Historical Society of Missouri, and a copy is also on file at the Moberly Public Library,
generously donated by the Higbee Historical Society.

LETTER, BY W. T. DAMERON--Mrs. Henrietta Bagby of Huntsville was the oldest
lady to register at the reunion. She was born in Silver Creek township 88 years ago. She
is the widow of the late Jas. H. Bagby, who was the owner of the old Bagby mill,
established in 1835, on Sweet Springs, four miles south of Huntsville.

LETTER, BY W. T. DAMERON--Fount Harlan, of Moberly, one of the finest old
settlers this county ever produced, arrived at the reunion in the afternoon, in company
with James Dysart, also of Moberly, another fine old-timer. Fount is now 86 years old,
and was born and reared near Thomas Hill, this county. He knows much of the early
history of the county. His ancestors were pioneers of this county. The Harlan family is a
large one, with 240 descendants, and as a whole the county never produced a better
family of people, and none were ever charged with a crime of any nature. Fount is a little
feeble in body now, but his mind is still clear.

LETTER, BY W. T. DAMERON--Uncle Pettis Sears of Prairie Hill, who has been
prominent at many of our reunions, was unable to attend last Thursday on account of
sickness. It was reported that he was dangerously ill, but we presume he is improving
now, as we have heard nothing to the contrary at this writing. He is now past 91 years of
age, and is a grand old man and minister.

LETTER, BY W. T. DAMERON--(Kathy's notes: The following list was very difficult
to read. Many of the ages of the old folks had been poorly printed, with ink missing in
multiple places, and some of the ages were nearly unreadable altogether. If I have any
doubt of the age of the party, I will follow that age with a ? to warn the reader that the age
is subject to further verification.)
