The little spirit has taken its flight,

The home is left sad, but heaven is richer,

The angels are glad.

The parents' hope, the parents' joy

Sweet little Joe Marshall, a dear little boy;

Was taken from our care and love.

Dear little Joe Marshall to us was given,

A bud on earth to bloom in heaven.

Sweet little boy, we loved him so,

But when the angels came, he had to go.

When this life of trouble is done

To heaven we'll go to meet our loved one

There we'll be with him forever,

Through all eternity.
