I would suggest that you contact the funeral home that handled the
arrangements for the person who passed in 1973, since you know where they
passed.

I recommend getting funeral records, if you know where the person passed and
even just have the year. There is usually a LOT of genealogical info in the
funeral records, especially if they are fairly recent, say within the past
30-50 years.
