Message Board Post:

I'm looking for dates and names of my paternal grandfather's family. His name was John William Roberts b. ~1905 near Carthage, Missouri, d. 1964 in Oregon.

I've been told that the family had quite a bit of land in the area, but lost it when the courthouse was destroyed in a fire around the Civil War.

His mother's name was Sarah (O'Hara?) and he had brothers Bert and Jack, and sisters Vie and Peggy. Bert and his wife Sadie moved to Terra Haute, Indiana, and had a son, Jimmy. Jack Roberts moved to Sacramento, CA, and was a writer of Western novels and short stories, and Vie Viles moved to San Jose, CA.

John moved to Oregon during the Great Depression to work on the WPA, and met my grandmother Mary Fisher, near Eugene.

Any leads in regards to vital information or family history would be most helpful -- I'm at an impasse.

Thanks,

Chad
