Ellen's married name was Weaver, and she and my g-g-g grandfather [Easton Weaver] divorced in Henry County Missouri shortly after he returned from the Civil War. The only clue I to her after that was a brief notation in a local Knob Knoster paper that says
February ?, 1892 "J.M. Weaver returned Sunday from Gunn City [Cass Co.] where he had been to see his mother who died while he was there. She was buried in Jasper County."
J.M. was her son, James Matthew Weaver. This was not his step-mother as she was living in the same town as James at the time. Since there are no death records for Ellen Weaver anywhere close to Feb. of 1892 I have gradually come to the conclusion that she remarried at some time. I cannot find a marriage record however. Ellen and Easton were originally from Ohio, later moved to Rock Island Illinois before Easton moved the family to Henry Co. Missouri just after he got out of the Civil War. Most frustrating that I cannot find her, I've been trying for years. My latest try has been any person named Ellen with a death date around late 1891 or Jan./Feb 1892 around my Ellen's age. She was born in 1834 in Ohio.
