It is a great site, however it's not perfect!

Unfortunately, this information is NOT totally correct!

There are many births and deaths that apparently were not filed correctly, if they were filed at all. In some cases, the handwriting was so bad the record couldn't be read or was read incorrectly. Spelling could really be off also. In some cases the person may be there, but listed under their given name instead of their surname. Thomas LESLIE for example, may end up as Leslie THOMAS.

Yes, this is true even of the period after 1911, when it was required by law that the records be filed. There are many of them just not available. This is true and not a case of them actually dying in another State.

If you don't find them in one county, try another county. In some cases they aren't in the county you think they are. Joplin MO is in two counties Jasper and Newton. Depending on where a person died they may be several counties away from where they actually lived and even in another State.
