Per a very old geological map of the area. Central City is west of Joplin about half way ti Galena, KS. There is a sign of the highway between Joplin and Galena pointing the direction to Central City.
Gregg is southwest of Joplin in Newton county. The old schoolhouse is still there. It's just off what was known for years as Tanyard Hollow going to Shoal Creek and east of the old Jackson's Diggings
