How about Game Hunter? Meaning one who hunts for wild game, such as rabbit, deer, elk, turkey, duck, geese, bear, etc.

I found an occupation listed in the 1850 Jasper Census that I'd not seen before or since, that puzzles me.

Can anyone tell me what "G Hunter" stands for? My first thought was Government Hunter...Then I thought because of the era Gold Hunter... ie. men gone to CA in the gold rush...but that would only explain where an absent member of a household WAS...not his occupation...Although I think that's where my GG Grandfather John PATRICK was, while his family stayed behind in Jackson Township.
