Missouri Adoption records were sealed in 1941 so you might get lucky and
find something in the county court house in Carthage. But, you must know for
certain this is where the adoption took place. Being born in Jasper Co
doesn't mean the adoption took place there. And, the other way around -
being adopted in Jasper Co doesn't mean the person was born there.
At this time I don't believe you will be able to access any records from the
State. There is a current law which allows some access to records but the
time frame you are seeking may or may not be included. Even if it is
included - only the adoptee can request the info and the adoptive parents
have to okay things, etc. In your case everyone is deceased so I don't think
you will have much luck.
Let me caution you that should you contact the State for info - it will
probably close any access you might have found thru the county court. So, do
not contact the State. Do not request an original birth certificate or any
other documents.
If you will contact me privately - I can give you a few ideas on ways to
conduct your research without sending up any red flags.
Mary
