My G g grandfather James McCulloch (or Mcolloch) was born in 1805 in Big River Township and died in 1866. One of the first settlers in the area was Hugh McCulloch, who settled in 1801 and I believe that James is connected to him somehow. What kind of records and where might they be found for this area in the years between 1801 and 1820? James had 3 children: Margaret who married James C. Power in 1862, Sarah who married Patrick Thomas in 1854, and my great grandmother Minerva who married William Manion in 1856. If anyone else out there is researching any of these families, I would like to exchange information.
