Miss Zoe LaBEAUME returned home Sunday from Shawnee, Oklahoma, where she
has been at work for several months.
Ross McCULLOCH was bound over to the Circuit court by Justice ROUGGLY on
a charge of criminal assault.
City engineer CAMPBELL is resurveying the the street lines of SeSoto. He
finds that many property owners are over the line. This will probably be
fixed by a new ordinance in the near future.
Miss Nell JOYE and sister returned from a visit to Hot Springs last week
and are staying at the home of Mr. GRATIOT on St. Louis st.
Mrs. O. F. MEEK entertained the Woman club on Friday, April 21. The
subject was "Spring". A delightful afternoon was spent by all.
George OEST, son of Mr. and Mrs. John OEST, died at his house on Miller
st., Friday morning. He had been failing for some time but it was not
thought that the end was so near. The community joins the family in their
grief.
E. M. CROW is contemplating the erection of a residence in the western
part of town.
Rev. and Mrs. O. P. DEVIN attended a meeting of the Iron Mountain
Presbytery at Lutzville last week.
Leslie HODGENS of St. Louis sang at the Q. E. T. play Friday night.
Mr. Pickney PRESNELL of Fredericktown is spending a few days with his
uncle, C. C. PRESNELL.
Miss Mattie WEIER spent Saturday in St. Louis.
Mrs. E. ROUSSAN died at her home on Fourth st., Saturday morning. She is
survived by six children. The sympathy of all are with her relatives.
W. T. MILTON brs[?] turned over the Waters Pierce Oil Co. agency to A. W.
BLANK and has taken the night passenger agent's job recently held by Al
LOVETT.
Dr. C. C. PRESNELL will soon leave town for points in Southern Missouri
where he and his nephew will establish a practice.
Miss Ethel PARKER returned home Saturday from Pevely where she has been
teaching. Her school closed Friday.
Byrnesville
On Sunday afternoon April 22, "Grandma" CROMWELL was delightfully
surprised at [the] home of her daughter, Mrs. Herman YUNGE, of Byrnesville
in honor of her 72nd birthday. The afternoon was very pleasantly spent in
playing games and conversing of olden times. During the course of the
afternoon, Fred SCHLOSSER, brought his camera and photographed the family
group, consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Henry CROMWELL and family of Eureka, Mr.
and Mrs. B. KIDD and family of Eureka, Mr. and Mrs. E. BURGESS and family of
House Springs, Mr. and Mrs. H. YUNGE and family of Byrnesville and Mrs.
Belle SIEVERS of St. Louis. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver CROMWELL of Festus were
unable to be present. Afterwards the entire group present were
photographed. At five o'clock the guests were invited to the dining room,
where a splendid dinner was served. All departed wishing their charming
hostess many more happy birthdays.
P. P. O'BRIEN and wife attended the funeral of C. H. KLEINSCHMIDT of
Hillsboro Friday.
Miss Kathleen G. SCHEUER of Manchester spent the Easter holidays as
guests[sic] of Miss Margaret BIRK.
Mrs. George SCHEUER and Mrs. John HOFSTETTER and daughter, Inez, of
Manchester spent the week-end with Mrs. Geo. BIRK and family.
Mrs. William MAY and daughters, Misses Ella and Clara and Mrs. WILSON,
accompanied by Mrs. Geo. HARNESS and daughter, Miss Estell, spent Thursday
with Mrs. Geo. BIRK and family.
Frank and Richard CREAN attended the ball at Pacific Saturday night.
Miss Katie O'BRIEN and Mrs. Eugene COPLAN of St. Louis spent Saturday and
Sunday with Miss Katie's parents and attended the Byrnesville ball Saturday
night.
Miss Nellie WEIDNER of Webster Grove spent the week-end with Miss
Margaret BIRK and attended the Byrnesville ball.
Jos. BYRNE of St. Louis spent the week-end with his grandmother, Mrs.
Rose BYRNE of Byrnesville. Blanche
Sulphur Springs
Mr. and Mrs. O. E. SHELTON have bought the McGUIRE homestead and will
make it their home.
Mrs. Roscoe BURFORD and baby have gone to Lutesville, Mo., to visit her
parents. Mr. BURFORD intends to visit Canada in a few weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. MADIGEN of St. Louis were visitors in our town the past
week.
Earl HULL visited his parents last Sunday.
Mrs. Frank STORK is now convalescing after a months illness.
Mr. John DEERING of St. Louis was down Sunday looking after his property
and intends making improvements on several of his houses.
Mr. SHATTO and family, formerly of this place, have moved to Kimmswick.
Morrison ST. JOHN spent the past week visiting his parents here.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. SPECK of St. Louis are here for a few days.
