My Mother, who passed away in 2003, was a grand-daughter of George Washington
JACKSON. George was b: in 1839, Caledonia, Washington, MO., m: 1868 in
DeSoto, Jefferson, MO. She used to tell me stories about her grandfather and I now
have his original Civil War discharge certificate and an original photo of The
"Survivors of the Battle of Shiloh." The story of George and a copy of the
picture is on the Jefferson County website.
