Thanks, Gayle. Stan also sent that link. I went there briefly. It is a
great site with a lot of information on it and I want to spend some hours
searching in depth. I also am looking for Civil War photos and maps (if
any) of the Battle of Lexington in 1861 in Lexington, Lafayette Co, MO. I
am sure our Campbell family joined in the fight, since they had a large farm
in the Lexington post office area.

For those researching the Civil War, I have also been in touch with the
Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond, VA. (www.moc.org). They have been
very helpful..

We have been very fortunate to make contact (via this board) with Janene and
Martha who are also researching children of John M. Campbell. They have
provided much valuable information, including an excerpt of John M.
Campbell's 1883 will in Lafayette Co, MO, and the cemetery where he and wife
Melvina are buried (Stapp Cemetery). There is great power in pooling your
research.
