Dear Heidi,

Some pages of the 1910 Lawrence County census are very faint and difficult to decipher. The name Garlock does not appear in the published transcription.

There is a report of Ida Garlock's death in the Aurora newspapers.
Ruth Browning, Southwest Missouri Newspaper Abstracts, Vol. 13, Aurora Advertiser and Southwest Miner, Jan. 3, 1913-Dec. 31, 1914, p. 4:
Feb. 21, 1913,
Word received by Mrs. J. M. Mathes of death of Mrs. Ida M. Garlock.

This is only an abstract, but apparently it did not indicate the place of death nor if Mrs. Mathes was a family member or friend.

The name Garlock does not appear in the index to Miss Browning's abstracts for 1918, Mr. Garlock's year of death.

For my own reference, the 1900 census record for the Garlocks is:
1900 Census, Missouri, Lawrence Co., Aurora Township, Aurora City, family 148:
Adelmer Garlock May 1855 45 Yr. M 20 N.Y. N.Y. N.Y.LumberMer

1910 Census, Missouri, Lawrence Co., Aurora Township, Aurora City, Ward 2, E.D. 87, family 38:
Mark Mathes head 39-yr M-15 Mo. Tn. Ind.
Ola wife 37-yr 2-2 Kan. Ind. Mo.
Raymond son 12-yr Mo. Mo. Kan.
Mildred dau 10-yr Mo. Mo. Kan.

J. Mark Mathes was a prominent Auroran and has a biography in the 1917 History. He was the son of James C. Mathes and Minerva Seburn and was born in Marionville in 1869. He married Ola Bean, daughter of George W. and Hester (Adamson) Bean, of Kansas City, on 11 Oct 1894. He was involved in the mining operations in Aurora with Coleman Brothers, Number Four Drill, and later was secretary and treasurer of the R. P. Sinclair Coal Co. He served as city street commissioner and was appointed Postmaster of Aurora in 1912. I do not know whether any of the names above are linked to the Garlocks.

Neil Garlock's marriage is not listed in the published transcriptions for this time period for Lawrence County.

Incidentally, I did not receive your original message via MOLAWREN, but did get the response below. Apparently, some MOLAWREN and other messages were not delivered to me over the weekend.
