I am researching the Blue and Ross surnames in my family. John
O.(Otis?)b abt 1843 and Emma 'Ross' Blue lived near Chillicothe, MO and
moved to Nettleton,(Jonesboro),Craighead Co, AR in 1912. Their children
were Edd b.03-01-1886(never married), Lola Dudley b.09-12-1894, Nellie
Goodrich b.04-03-1891, and Mildred Spencer b.10-05-1905. John enlisted
(Clinton or DeWitt County) in the Union Army-Civil War-Company K, 41st
Infantry Regiment, Illinois Volunteers as a private on Sept. 3,1861.
I have been handed down some very old pictures that may or may not be
family. I will give the names of who we think are family and then I will
list the names of the pictures in question. Maybe someone will recognize
them from researching the surnames Blue and Ross.
Family:
Lida (Lela?) Blue Thompson (or last name Brumley?) from TX>sister of
J.O.Blue
Howard Blue (picture as a small child)
Becky Blue (niece of John & Emma; maybe she worked as a telephone
operator, in picture she is sitting at a keyboard )
Bill Sapp (cousin to Emma from Chula, MO)
(I have several pictures of family that just say 'cousin', 'niece',
'aunt', or 'relatives' to the Blues on the backs.)
Friends or family?:
Alice Israel Phillips
Corda Israel
Mattie Brumley (lived in CA)
Margaret Stone
Mr.& Mrs. Botsward (from MO)
Have several old mystery pictures with no information on the back. May
be people from MO, not sure. The Ross family (Emma) may be from MO as
well. The only names I have of the Ross surname are:
O.J.Ross (brother to Emma) m Kate
Oscar & Hannah Ross
Clinton Ross (son of Oscar & Hannah, he had 2 girls, was in serviceWWI,
died with illness after discharge)
Eleanor Ann Cunningham m Bennie Tuggle
Maybe someone has a connection. I may have a face to put with a name you
are researching. And we all know what a treasure find that can be!
Thank you,
Marsha
