Hi Pauline!

I have looked at your Frith family many times on the census records.
Permelia Frith was married to Jesse Stephens, and Jesse Stephens/Stevens
is somehow related to my Robert Stephens/Stevens. Robert was born 1818,
but where--well, we don't know yet. One census record says Kentucky,
another says Virginia, and another says Tennessee. I wonder if he knew.

The Friths and the Stephens may have had the same migration route to
Missouri--may have arrived together, although Robert Stevens/Stephens
did not move on but died in Missouri in 1910.

For the past several years Margaret and I have been researching this
great grandfather. Robert Stevens/Stephens was married five times and
fathered 22 children. We have been trying to untangle the children and
locate descendants. I strongly believe that Jesse Stephens, who married
Permelia Frith, was a close relative of Robert--brother, uncle, cousin.
Other than the marriage of Permelia and Jesse, how were the Friths and
Stephens/Stevens related?

We would love to be able to find/prove Robert Steven/Stephen's parents
and siblings. He has many, many descendants living in Missouri and
elsewhere. He was a colorful character, outliving some wives, divorcing
one, marrying his last wife at an advanced age. That event made the
newspaper.

I have found that many of the mid-1800 families in the Missouri counties
of Grundy, Livingston, and Daviess are interrelated. The same names
keep coming up--Harris (also my line), Frith, Stephens/Stevens, Ramsey,
Weldon, Hobbs, Gee, Embry, and many more.

Janet
