AGED FREDERICKTOWN WOMAN MISSING; MAY HAVE DROWNED.

Miss Kate Davis, 76, of Fredericktown, retired rural school teacher, has
been missing since last Saturday evening, and it is believed she was drowned
in the city lake, which furnishes the water supply for the city.

Miss Davis, driving her own car, had been visiting relatives about two miles
from Fredericktown, and left at 10:00 p.m. to return home and has not been
seen since that time. Her car was recovered from the lake Tuesday
afternoon, with the ignition still on. An amateur skin diver from Poplar
Bluff searched Tuesday evening for her body in the lake without results, and
today four expert skin divers from St. Louis County were secured to assist
in the search. The lake is about ten feet deep at the point where the car
was found.
