M. W. Scott Killed by a Falling Tree
Cole County in general was shocked
Saturday afternoon when it was learned
that M. W. (Gum) Scott, living in the
Pleasant Hill neighborhood, had been
accidently killed while chopping in the
woods near his home.
No one was present at the time of
the accident and it is hardly known just
how Mr. Scott met his death, though it
is generally supposed that he had cut
a tree and in felling it that it lodged in
a smaller tree and in trying to dislodge
it it fell, striking him on the top of
