It has been found upon further research that Curtis McDowell of the obituary
below was the son of Dora McDowell (18 August 1890 - 22 October 1966). Dora
is supposed to have married Calvin Thomas in 1906 which would indicate that
Curtis was his son, perhaps out of wedlock?, but documentation of marriage
date has not been found in Miller or Camden Counties. If he was Calvin
Thomas's son, Curtis still went by the name of Curtis McDowell as seen in
the obituary and in his burial. Hawkeye Cemetery Records indicate Curtis
McDowell, born 2 March 1907 died 12 September 1965 and his tombstone is the
same as his mother's: Dora McDowell, born 18 August 1890; died 22 October
1966. It is believed that Dora married 1) Calvin Thomas in 1906 and 2) and
it is known that Dora married 2) William P. Wiseman on 15 March 1909 in
Camden County. Burial for her in Camden County, Miller County, Pulaski
County under the name of Dora Wiseman has not been found.
