Obituary: Jefferson City Post Tribune, Saturday, July 14, 2001
Elpha Crump, 91, Versailles, died July 13, 2001, in Versailles.
She was born July 28, 1909, in Iberia, a daughter of George and Hannah May
Broome Helton. She was married to John Crump, who died in 1977.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson
City where she sang in the choir. She was a past member of Presbyterian
Church, Williamsburg, where she played the organ. She was a member of the
Jefferson City Garden Club and the National Association of Retired Federal
Government Employees.
A finance clerk, she worked for the Federal Reserve Bank, St.
Louis, and the Federal Agriculture Department. She was employed with the
division of Finance with Family Services in the state office.
Survivors include: one sister, Helen Mathews, Eldon; and two
brothers, Warren Helton, Eldon and Robert Helton, Jefferson City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Philips Funeral Home,
Eldon. The Rev. Jasper Hunter and the Rev. Dennis Helton will officiate.
Burial will be in Williamsburg Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation will be
from noon-2 p.m. Monday. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian
Church of Jefferson City.
