Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser, Thursday, May 25, 1999
Funeral services were held March 21 for Blanche Esther Opie, 72,
of Versailles, who died March 18, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson
City. She was born on September 10, 1926, in Eldon to Chester and Edna
Smith Apperson. She was the owner/operator of a local business and employed
by the Missouri Department of Corrections prior to retirement.
Ms. Opie is survived by her mother, Edna Apperson of St. Louis;
a daughter, Kim Opie of Jefferson City; two sons, Marvin Opie of Versailles
and Randy Opie of Eldon; three sisters, Ruth Brown of St. Louis, Betty Yager
of Eldon and Barbara Rackers of Jefferson City; one brother, Gordon Apperson
of Independence; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
father, Chester Apperson; and two brothers, Carl Apperson and Howard
Apperson.
Services were held at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon, with Rev.
Frederick R. Smith officiating. Interment followed at Greenmore Memorial
Gardens in Barnett. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung
Association.
