Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser, Thursday, May 14, 1998
Susan Carr Wahlbrink, 61, of Eldon died Tuesday, May 12, 1998,
at University Hospital in Columbia. She was born Dec. 31, 1936, in Eldon to
William T. and Martha E. Gunn Carr. Her mother survives at Eldon. On Aug.
24, 1957, she was married in Eldon to Leon Wahlbrink, who survives at the
home.
Mrs. Wahlbrink was a 1954 graduate of Eldon High School. She
attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles prior to graduating from the
University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor of Science degree in
biology. She taught in the St. Charles and Riverview Gardens school systems
prior to returning to Eldon in 1968. She taught in the Eldon School System
for seven years prior to assisting her husband operate Bill Carr's Store in
Eldon for 10 years. At the time of her death, she was a seventh grade
teacher at Eldon Middle School.
In addition to her mother and husband, Mrs. Wahlbrink is
survived by two sons, Phillip J. Wahlbrink and Richard K. Wahlbrink, both of
Eldon; two granddaughters; and a brother, Dr. Phillip Carr, M.D. of Reeds
Springs.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Phillips
Funeral Home in Eldon. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at
Phillips Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Eldon Cemetery. Memorials are
suggested to the Susan Carr Wahlbrink Memorial Fund, in care of the Eldon
R-1 School System.
