Mrs. Sarah Dixon.

“Again we are called upon to chronicle the death of one of our highly
esteemed and respected citizens. In this death children are called upon
to mourn the loss of a dear mother, neighbors, a dear friend and Madison
and community a kind and good woman.
Sarah Pickard was born in Yorkshire, England September 11, 1830, and
died January 3, 1902. She was married to George Dixon December 23,
1852, and came with him to the State of Pennsylvania February 1856,
living there until January 1876, when they moved to Madison, Missouri.
She was the mother of eleven (children), seven daughters and (four)
sons. Her husband, two (daughters) and one son having (preceded) her to
the better land.
She professed religion about (?5) years ago, united with the
(Cumberland) Presbyterian church and has lived a consistent christian
life. On moving to Madison, there being no church of that denomination
here, she united with the M.E. church.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Kimbrell at the residence of her
son, George Dixon, where she died, after which her remains were laid to
rest in the Madison cemetery. ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the
Lord.’ ”
