DEATH OF JEWEL JENNINGS.

“How the father, mother and brother mourn the loss of their darling one,
Jewell, but it was God’s will not ours. Little Jewell was a most
promising and loveable little girl and a sun beam among all others of
her mates and friends. How we feel and mourn the loss of a loved one.
Just fancy your can see that one who has been loved these long thirteen
years, clad in robes so white and fair.”

Do no weep because the baby
Early found the gates of gold,
Early left the tears and trials
For the blessing of the fold.
Fold the stainless waxen fingers,
They have wrought thy father’s will
And henceforth through all time striving.
They will be forever still.
Not for her the wearing heartache,
That the lengthened years must bring,
With their mocking thorns and thistles
She will never know their sting,
Never know the grief that gathers
Cloud-like o’er crowded years,
Nor the bitter sad awakening
To earth’s saddest reign of tears.
‘Tis of such the words was spoken
Let the children come to me
In his arms the Savior held them,
Blessed and kissed them tenderly
For of such is Heaven’s kingdom,
And from all of earth beguiled,
To the Savior’s tender leaping,
She has passed – a little child.
