GUEST-PAYNE.
Mr. Frank I. Guest and Miss Ivy Payne were married at the Christian
church in Paris, Tuesday evening at 7:30. It was generally rated the
prettiest of all the pretty weddings solemnized in the church in recent
years. The color scheme, white and yellow, was tastily carried out,
golden rod being a conspicuous feature of the elaborate floral
decorations. Mr. Guest, a brother of the groom, presided at the pipe
organ. A novel feature was introduced during the march of the bride and
bridesmaids to the altar, a lane of white and yellow ribbons being
stretched on either side of the aisle and held in place by the users,
Misses Fay Hanley and Bessie Howell, and Messrs Kirkland Greer and Carl
Wallace.
Through this lane the bridesmaids, Misses Kalke, Lamb Douglas, McBride,
Whitecotton, Goetz and Nolen marched in single file, and as the bride
passed down the aisle, the users closed about her and escorted her to
the front of the church where she was joined by the groom, who was
escorted to the altar by Harry Payne. Dr. W.T. Moore, of Columbia, made
a few remarks, and after a short prayer by Eld. Briney, proceeded to tie
the nuptial knot by means of the regulation ring ceremony. The wedding
party drove from the church to the home of the bride where a wedding
feast was spread, after which Mr. and Mrs. Guest left for Springfield,
Ill., where they will visit relatives before settling down at home in
Chicago. Mr. Guest is a commercial traveller. His bride is the
daughter of Mrs. J.F. Matchet, of Paris. She is a most lovable young
woman, richly endowed with those practical and social accomplishments
that mean so much in the home.
