Undated article; original source unknown. Extracted from the newspaper
article collection started in 1879 by Mrs. Nannie Brown of Madison,
Missouri.
Called Home.
"William W. Jacoby was born September 19, 1831, in Henry County,
Kentucky, from whence he removed in 1850, to Monroe county where he died
at the residence of his only daughter on the morning of April 2, 1902.
He was married on the 4th of March, 1852, to Miss Frances E. Dry, who
died June 18, 1863. Of the issue of this marriage, two children, Mrs.
Eliza A. Maupin, of Monroe county, and W.W. Jacoby, of Slater, survive;
the other, a little boy, having died in infancy. He was again married
in 1865 to Amanda Gibson, who died March (12), 1885. Of this union one
son only, F. C. Jacoby, of Moberly, survives; a brother having died in
early childhood. He leaves on sister, Mrs. Mary Ann Parks, of McFall,
Gentry county, and many friends to bear testimony to the consistent life
whose loss they deplore.
He took up his life work for his Maker in (1863) and at no time lost
faith in the promised reward nor abated effort in its securance. Ever
ready to give a reason for the hope that was in him, he never grew weary
in well doing; and the face drawn with agony, lit up; at parting breath,
with a smile, that, to those about him, seemed born of perfect
fulfillment.
One by one, the 19th century pioneers are passing from our midst. They
leave, in lieu of their vanished presence, valued memories of sterling
worth, and righteous effort, of (upvarying) devotion to exalted purpose,
of genial nature and kindly association that soften the blow which they
occasion. Among these as citizen, husband, father and friend, our loved
and lost one stands without a peer. There is a time in promise, when
Death, the last grim enemy, shall have been destroyed. Until this
consummation shall have been accomplished, (and in (fond) faith, of such
result,) earth turns for (comfort) to the contemplation of these
(temporary) records marked, in memory and (merit), as Eternal."
