Undated article; possibly from the Madison Times. Extracted from the
newspaper article collection started in 1879 by Mrs. Nannie Brown of
Madison, Missouri.
Gone Home.
"Ellen Francis Snidow, was born Feb. 7th, 1855 and died Sept 23rd, 1901.
She was the daughter of William and Angeline Farrell and was born and
raised near Madison. She was married to C.C. Snidow, April 16th, 1877.
Of this marriage two sons, Antonio and Harry, were born.
Ellen united with the Christian church early in life while visiting in
the state of Texas, afterwards casting her lot with the Christian church
of Madison, where she has been a very devoted member. She was truly a
cheerful giver and never failed to respond when called on for help for
her own and other churches.
She leaves a husband, two sons, a father, five brothers, two sisters,
and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. Her last words were,
"Oh, carry me home to mother." Antonio, who has had typhoid fever, was
not able to attend the funeral. Her only regret at dying was leaving
her family. She expressed herself as being ready to go but for the
leaving of her family. Funeral services, conducted by Elder C.H. Strawn,
were held at the Christian church in Madison, Tuesday afternoon, after
which all that mortal of Ellen Snidow was laid to rest in the Madison
cemetery there to await the Resurrection morn.

Resolutions of Respect.
"To the officers and members of Ladies Aid Society of Christian church.
We, you committee, submit the following resolutions of respect to the
memory of our deceased sister, Ellen Snidow.
Whereas, We are again reminded (of) the uncertainty of life, and made to
realize how brittle the thread that in this life with the life divine.
Whereas, Our Heavenly Father in his wisdom has removed from our midst,
our beloved sister, our hearts have been saddened and a chair left
vacant in our Aid Society. She loved and served so faithfully,
performing so cheerfully any duty that devolved upon her.
Sister Snidow fully realized the existence of a Supreme being and her
short life among us was such as to lead us to hope that this parting is
but a brief period of time until we meet to part no more.
Resolved, that we extend our sincere sympathy to the sorrowing family,
and commend them to (Him) who can heal the wounded heart, and who never
imposed a burden that he will not five us strength to bear. Be it
further
Resolved, that a record of these resolutions be spread upon the minutes
of the Aid Society; a copy be furnished the Madison Times for
publication.
