Untitled, undated announcement; original source unknown. Extracted from
the newspaper article collection started in 1879 by Mrs. Nannie Brown of
Madison, Missouri.

"Died at the residence of her (brother)-in-law, J.W. Boulware, Mrs.
(F.E.) Embree, of lung trouble. She had the la grippa last winter which
settled on her lungs, and on the 12th of June, she took her bed,
gradually getting worse until Oct. 9th at 2 o'clock. She passed away as
quietly as a babe going to sleep. She was 38 years and 6 months of age,
and left two brothers and two sisters, W.P. and S.D. Klugh and Mrs. J.W.
Boulware and Mrs. R.E. Thomas, besides a number of other relatives."

So we cannot wish her back again,

To tread life's road mid toil and pain,

Her flesh lies low beneath the sod,

Her spirit's with the eternal God;

Friends long departed clasp her hand,

In heaven they form a happy band,

Loved ones all united stand,

Within heaven's wall.

Oh, did she not her mission fill,

God called her at his own will,

Then why should we rebel to-day,

Our hearts are sad yet we will say,

Sleep on dear one and take your rest,

Sleep on, sleep on, you're ever blest,

When Jesus calls we'll pass o'er,

And join you on that happy shore.

A FRIEND.

(Note: La grippa was the old term for influenza.)
