Untitled, undated article; original source unknown. Extracted from the
newspaper article collection started in 1879 by Mrs. Nannie Brown of
Madison, Missouri.
"After about one year's suffering from that dread disease, Consumption,
Clyde Pendleton, one of Madison's brightest and most energetic young
men, breathed his last, Friday night, Jan. 27, 1899, at ten o'clock. He
was born at the old Pendleton homestead, three miles north of town,
August 13, 1878, and his remains were laid to rest last Saturday
afternoon at the family burying ground.
Notwithstanding the fact that a veritable blizzard was raging at the
time, a large number of relatives and friends assembled at the grave to
pay the last tribute of respect to his memory, all of which attest the
high esteem in which he was held by those more intimately acquainted
with him. He was a noble young man, but has now gone to his regard, and
the community extends warmest sympathy to his aged father and the
sisters and brother he has left behind."
