Another Pioneer Citizen of (Madison) Passes Away.
"W.W. Swindell, one of the (old) pioneer citizens of this locality, and
a man whom all loved and respected, died at his home four miles
northwest of this place, last Wednesday night, Sept. 8th, 1897, of
typhoid fever.
April 10th last, Mr. Swindell reached his 77th year, was married in this
county over 51 years ago, and was the father of 10 children, 7 girls and
3 boys, all of whom survive him, as does also his faithful and
esteemable wife.
Mr. Swindell was a man whom everybody honored and respected for his
sterling worth and integrity and his death will prove a sad bereavement
not only to the loved ones he leaves behind, but to (a) host of friends
all over this section of country.
He was a faithful and earnest member of the Masonic fraternity, and his
remains were laid to rest in Madison Cemetery with Masonic honors, last
Friday evening, among a host of sorrowing relatives and friends who
assembled at the grave to witness the last sad rites over the remains of
(so) noble a man."
