Obituary.
"Nancy Brown, nee Davis, wife of Geo. W. Brown, died July 4 th, 1895.
She was a daughter of Bluford and Sallie Davis. She was born in Monroe
County, Mo., June 28th, 1835, being 60 years and 4 days old. Her
sickness was of short duration. She the day before her death waited
anxiously to see the parade on the 4th of July, but e'er the line was
formed, the death messenger did his work and had gone to try the other
side.
She leaves six children and her husband. She battled life's stormy way
for 41 years, 1 month and ten days. May the Lord comfort them. She
joined the Christian church under the preaching of Eld. Josiah Davis
about 16 years ago. Sister Brown was a good woman. In the Swindell
Graveyard, we laid (her) away with services by Eld. J. M (unknown)."
