newspaper article collection started in 1879 by Mrs. Nannie Brown of
Madison, Missouri.

"As per announcement last week the remains of Judge Samuel Quirey were
laid to rest in Madison cemetery on Thursday afternoon by Madison Lodge
No. 92, F. & A.M., assisted by a number of visiting brethren, after
impressive funeral services at the Christian church by Eld. Pinkerton of
Paris. Judge Quirey was one of the oldest Masons as well as men, in the
state, having belonged to the order over seventy years. He would have
been ninety-four years old next March. May his soul rest in peace. He
had indeed seen years and many solemn changes had passed before him.
The deceased had been making his home with his son, U.E. Quirey, of
Iantha, who accompanied the remains here with his brother, W.M. Quirey,
of Kansas City."
