Suicided.

"A young man named Titus Elston, living about three miles west of Middle
Grove, committed suicide on Sunday evening, by shooting himself through
the forehead with a 32 caliber revolver, dying instantly. When he found
he was sitting upright against the barn, stone dead about an hour. No
cause is known for his rash act. He left a note in which he said that
he was tired of living. He was about 19 years old and stood well in the
neighborhood. The following is his letter:

Sunday, Feb 5.

Now, fare well to one and all my friends. I am going to kill myself
this evening. Mother, good-bye, your tender and loving boy, Mother
watch over me, your only (living) boy on this earth, but the death angel
has visited and has called for me to come, and I am ready to go.

To Henry Schouge:

(Few sentences unintelligible) .your loving mother and sister Lulu I
leave all heare and depart for the world beyond, where I hope to meet
you all there. Try to live a better life than you have ever lived.
Tell sister Tavy and (No--) and Bill that I said good-bye to them and
love to one and all. Friends, I will bid you all adieu. Mother,
brother and sister, good bye, meet me in heaven.

Bury me by my father and sister Mary, and have Brother Cooke preach my
funeral. Mother, if you can't bet Brother Cooke, get Brother Smith,

>From the grave, TITUS ELSTON."
