Madison, Missouri.
"(Saturday morning) (.unable to read rest of the line) of the death of
Walter, the nineteen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Wilcox, was sadly
whispered on our streets among the people. Walter had been suffering
with consumption for a long time, but every remedy known to medical
skill, had been used, and the evening before his death, it was thought
that he was a great deal better. At four o'clock Saturday morning,
however, his mother heard a noise in his room, and starting into his
room to see what was the matter, met him at the door suffering a
hemorrhage and the blood gushing from his mouth. Mrs. Wilcox gave an
alarm and her husband and neighbors came to her assistance immediately,
but too late. Walter had he lived, would have been nineteen years old
the tenth of next May. He was a good young man, steady in his habits,
and had a host of friends, who sadly deplore his untimely death. The
remains were buried Sunday afternoon in the Madison cemetery. The
father and mother, who thus suffer the loss of their darling boy, have
the heartfelt sympathy of the whole community."
