Obituary.

"Died, at her home near Sturgeon, Audrain county, Mo., in the (31)st
year of her life, Mrs. Jennie Owens, wife of Frances Owens. Deceased
was a daughter of James and Barbara A. Helms near Madison, Monroe
county, Mo. Her disease for several months previous to her death was of
the kidneys, she being but a few days entirely prostrated in bed. At
all times during her sickness she seemingly tried to banish from the
minds of her companion and friends her true condition and that fast
approaching enemy the grim monster death. Some 23 hours before her
death she became unconscious, (or) at least became speechless, and (on)
the morning of the 27th of Feb. 1891, at 10 o'clock, her spirit (took)
its flight to that spirit land, while her body was laid away in the
narrow limits of the tomb, there (to) await the resurrection (morn).

She was not a member of any church nor made any public profession (of)
religion, but the writer of this (has) been intimately acquainted with
her for some eight years and can say I never saw anything but pious and
upright walk in her. She was a firm believer in the Christian religion,
salvation (and) grace. We can judge the tree (by) its fruits, for by
their fruit ye (shall) known them; moreover, (she) (unknown) fallen into
the hands of a just (God) who does all things well, therefore let us not
sorrow as those (who) have no hope. She leaves a sorrowing husband, a
mother and (two) brothers and a host of relatives and friends to mourn
her loss. (Unknown) we hope our loss is her eternal (gain). Now may
the God of all (Gods) comfort all the bereaved (ones) (of) this family,
is the prayer of (unknown) unworthy and imperfect (unknown).
