Glad to see you back online and researching. Were you able to contact
Mary Alice Dell about your Gaines line? She has helped me tremendously
with my Gaines research.

I hope that I'm wrong but I don't know of any Monroe Co obituary
research or listings other than my efforts on the MOMONROE mailing list;
I'm transcribing a collection of local articles (primarily obits and
marriage announcements) collected by a Madison lady, Mrs. Nannie Brown,
from 1879 into the 1900s. Unfortunately, there is no index so I don't
know whose family information is available until I reach the next page!
But I have probably over 1,000 articles to go so depending on when they
died...

If you'd be willing to share your John and Cordelia information, I will
go through my old emails and Gaines/Alexander contacts to see if I can
find a match for you.

I'm looking for the death notice or o/b for John M. Alexander and/or
Cordelia (Gaines) Alexander. They were married in Monroe Cty. in 1841
and were listed in the 1850 census of Monroe.

John was born in Ky. about 1812.
